Family weekends ยท West Anderson Lane
Kids eat free, every weekend.
Every Saturday and Sunday, kids eat free at ZEN on West Anderson Lane. Restrictions apply, so ask at the counter. The rest of the family gets a bowl built the way they want it rather than the way a menu decided.
What the kids actually get
The Little Buddha kids meal is chicken, steak or tofu with broccoli, edamame and carrots over rice, with teriyaki on it. Noodles instead of rice are $1.25. On the menu it is $5.95; on weekends it is the free one, with restrictions, so ask when you order.
It is the same food we cook for everyone, in a smaller portion. Nothing is fried to order for the kids menu and nothing arrives from a freezer bag.
Why this works with a family that disagrees
Build-your-own is the whole model, which means the eight-year-old who eats only plain chicken and rice and the adult who wants beef tenderloin with chili garlic order from the same counter without a compromise.
There are Japanese crepes too, sweet ones from $9.99, which settles dessert without a second stop. Gluten-free choices are marked throughout the menu.
When to come
Saturday 11:00am to 9:00pm and Sunday from 11:30am to 9:00pm. We are at 2900 W Anderson Lane, Suite 250, in Crestview, a short run from Allandale, Brentwood and Rosedale.
Ordering ahead for pickup is worth it on a weekend. There is a 1.5% culinary fee on all checks.
